How to deal with school shootings

We have due process rights for a reason. If you victimize people, you can be removed from society. If you haven’t victimized anyone, the government cannot deprive you of life, liberty, or property.

I heard there was a crime in which a person killed many helpless, defenseless people, and now there’s some people telling me I’m somehow responsible because I have the ability to own or use something that the killer used criminally.

Ok. I’ll tell my wife she needs to get rid of her Insta-Pot pressure cooker.

Wait, what did you think I was talking about? Ohhhhhh... there was a school shooting. And that also involves me how? And my guns and I did what exactly?

First, for all my gun rights people... stop breathlessly posting about school shootings whenever they happen, or any other criminal act that involves guns. You making the connection to guns is the same logic Everytown and MILFs Demanding Anal use.

If it wasn’t you who used a gun in a criminal manner, it didn’t involve you. It has nothing to do with you or your guns. And we need to start acting like it.

When the media asks you for a statement about some shooting or an anti-gun zealot gets in your face while standing on the still-warm bodies of the dead, question why they didn’t ask you about your pressure cooker when those Muslims blew up the marathon with one. Or why they didn’t ask you about truck ownership when that other Muslim ran over those people. Stop responding to a criminal shooting people like you have something to defend.

It’s all about our liberty to own and use lawfully whatever we want, and if someone kills a bunch of people by whatever means, they should be prosecuted if they don’t beat us to the punishment and suck-start their own weapon.

Be hard on crime and criminals, advocate for harsher penalties for victimizers. But, I’m sorry to say, there’s no amount of prevention that’ll ever stop someone with criminal intent. All “prevention” does is stop good people not intent on crime from exercising their liberties, and puts them at risk of prosecution for noncompliance.

And leaves them helpless when the criminal comes to prey on them.

We have due process rights for a reason. If you victimize people, you can be removed from society. If you haven’t victimized anyone, the government cannot deprive you of life, liberty, or property. I know they try, and they use the criminal actions of one to deny the rest of us of our liberty and property as it pertains to the criminal’s tool of choice, but we need to create that clear separation even amongst ourselves, that criminals using guns or pressure cookers doesn’t negate our lawful use and ownership of them.

As for how to deal with this murderer... I hope he’s fairly tried, found guilty, and promptly executed. That’s how we deal with school shooters. And I hope the victims’ families find some peace in that.
