Beware Anti RKBA Republicans

While most Republicans claim to support an individual's right to keep and bear arms, their track record for actually fighting to enhance it or repeal current anti-RKBA laws isn't as strong as their ability to not letting new anti-RKBA through. It's easier to do nothing than to actually fight for something, even when you're in the majority.

It's easier to do nothing than to actually fight for something, even when you're in the majority.

But then there's Republicans who are actively against the RKBA, and of course they're right here in the once beautiful People's Republic of California.

Former Republican Assembly member Ling Ling Chang of Diamond Bar used to represent the 55th Assembly District, then failed at a run for State Senate against Democrat Josh Newman (who is now facing a recall). She is currently has no political power, which is just fine because when she did, she was either fighting to make douches tax free or voting to ban your firearms. The turncoat reportedly went door to door touting her conservatism and pro-2A stance, only to vote for AB 1135 and SB 880 which banned the sale of previously defined "fixed magazine" rifles, and requires those neutered rifles currently owned to be registered as "assault weapons". As for the tax free douches... well, that bill failed.

So she's gone but not forgotten.

Then there's Catharine Baker, Republican Assembly member from Dublin, currently representing the 16th Assembly District. She doesn't even hide her distain for your right to keep and bear arms. She proudly ran her campaign on being pro gun control. She didn't even hide it with squishy sounding euphemisms like "common sense gun safety measures"; it was straight up "PRO GUN CONTROL".

Naturally, she voted for the Gunmaggedon bills that our senile communist governor signed into law last year, and this year proposed her own anti-gun propaganda bill that would add warnings in firearm packaging about "the risks of firearms and the laws regulating firearms", and would force firearm retailers to post a giant conspicuous billboard stating how dangerous guns are and how liable you will be for non-compliance.

It will also require anyone wanting to obtain a "firearm safety certificate" (which is a license to buy a gun after taking a test... which last I checked needing to take a test to get a license to exercise a fundamental right conflicts with the entire notion of what a fundamental right is) to be read and to acknowledge a "risk and liability of firearm ownership" warning prior to being given their certificate.

In the event that this eye-rolling bill passes, California FFLs should put up their own conspicuous billboard right next to the state-mandated propaganda that exalts the virtue and benefits of responsible gun ownership, and read their own ideals to certificate receivers telling them who is responsible for denying them their rights, threatening to fine or imprison them for exercising their rights, or making them go through the continuous bullshit just to lawfully protect their lives while true criminals continue to obtain guns the way they always have. And have the certificate receiver acknowledge this prior to receiving their certificate. Nothing in the law states you can't offer an opposing narrative; that would violate another of your fundamental rights that's supposedly Constitutionally protected as well.

Attacks on your rights come from all angles and any party. Educate yourself on the individuals, not just the platforms. It's easy to paint with a broad brush, but any gun owner in Assembly District 16 who voted for the Republican voted for Gunmaggedon and this new bill. Get involved and get these people out of office.
