About the course
Firearms Unknown is offering an introduction to long range shooting in Yuma, AZ. This course is a two-day course that was developed by staff at Firearms Unknown to help shooters experience long range shooting with minimal hiccups.
Firearms Unknown will provide the rifle with a mounted optic and a whole host of gear that will help the shooter get good repeatable hits at distances past 600 yards.
This course was developed for students to “try before you buy” as Firearms Unknown has a variety of rifle and scope combinations that will allow shooters to determine if a particular piece of gear works for them and their application(s).
In this course we will:
- Introduce and expose shooters to the joys of long-range shooting and get students good repeatable hits at 600-800 yards with the opportunity to shoot at 1000 yards.
- Help shooters select the best gear for their use and application.
- Introduce and show shooters how to properly set up their rifle.
- Provide an introduction to precision rifle optics.
- Provide an introduction to internal ballistics.
- Provide an introduction to external ballistics.
- Provide an introduction to data collection and retention for their rifle system.
- Provide an introduction to different D.O.P.E. gathering methods: DOPE vs. Try DOPE.
Rifles and all gear will be provided by Firearms Unknown. All rifles will have a suppressor and quality optic installed on the rifle.
Suggested items to bring
DAY 1
-Note taking material: IE. paper/pen or laptop.
-Lunch and/or snacks
-Water/non-alcoholic beverages
DAY 2
-Eye protection
-Electronic hearing protection
-Hat with a brim
-Sunscreen
-Long sleeve shirt
-Elbow & knee pads (may not be needed as we will shoot off of pads from the prone)
-Durable pants
-Robust footwear
Ammunition Requirements
100-200 rounds of Match grade, caliber appropriate, ammunition purchased from Firearms Unknown (at a discount).
Background Check
Students must:
-Provide a valid concealed weapon permit
or
-Have passed a NICS check at Firearms Unknown in the 30-days prior to the course.
or
Submit to a background check with a fee of $50
Registration and Payments
-All course fees must be paid in full at the time of registration.
-No refunds and no transfers are available.
