This barrel is constructed in a unique LWK profile (Light-Weight-Kinda).   The portion of the barrel that is forward of the gas block journal is ultra thin (0.578”) and lightweight while the rear portion of the barrel between the gas block journal and the barrel extension is a standard profile (0.70”).

With the lightweight AR trend taking off over the last decade many people have produced pencil thin barrels in an effort to shave as much weight off of their rifle as possible.   What we have found is that pencil barrels tend to be negatively affected by harmonics and heat more so than a standard or heavy profile barrel.

The negative results from a pencil thin barrel typically yield larger groups especially as the barrel gets hot from hard and/or extended use.

As a result we worked with Blitzkrieg Tactical to develop this barrel that has a standard rear and thinner front.

If you ask the question, “if shaving weight hurts accuracy, why shave weight at all?”

You are asking a good question.

With rifles weight matters, but so does where the weight is.    Weight that is closer to the muzzle can make a rifle feel heavier than it actually is and in the age of flashlights and suppressors it is really easy to accumulate weight near the muzzle.

If you can shave weight closer to the muzzle you can reduce fatigue experienced by the shooter.   Weight closer to the receiver/centerline of the rifle has less of an effect on fatigue than does weight closer to the muzzle.

With the LWK barrel profile, we have sought to maintain a high standard of accuracy while reducing the weight close to the muzzle which produces the desired result of having a reliable, accurate rifle with weight reduction in the place where the shooter experiences a lower level of fatigue but maintains the same high standard of accuracy that comes with a Blitzkrieg Tactical barrel.

To accentuate the barrel's reliability we cross drilled the barrel so that the user can pin the gas block.   As such the gas block is secured with a pin but still maintains the standard bottom fed set screws.   NOTE: A low profile gas block and pin are included.
